Microblading

Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo technique that uses tiny, disposable needles to manually implant pigment beneath the surface of the skin to create the appearance of hair within the eyebrow.

My personal style & specialty for brow design is creating hair strokes with natural movement, just enough fluff, definition & flow. Creating brows that enhance your own without looking “tattooed”, brows that compliment your natural features, bone structure & aesthetic. Natural beauty never goes out of style & honoring that is what I aim for!

A minimum of two sessions spaced 6 weeks apart (a full skin renewal cycle) is required to build your brows naturally while maintaining the integrity of your skin. Depending on your goals & lifestyle, additional sessions may be necessary as this is an entirely bespoke service.

To keep you as comfortable as possible, I use two numbing agents both before we begin & during the procedure. Though pain tolerance varies with the individual, most people find the pain to be mild at most.

  • 2.5 hours initial session

2 hours for second sessions & annual color refresh appointments

  • Initial microblading session: $500

    Mandatory touch up session: $200

    Annual color refresher: $350

  • If the following applies to you, you may not get a cosmetic tattoo:

    • Under 18 years of age

    • Pregnant or breastfeeding

    • Unable to follow pre/post care

    • On Accutane within the last year

    • Are currently undergoing/have undergone chemotherapy in the last year

    • Have unchecked diabetes

    • History of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

    • Prone to allergies ie: metals, numbing agents, epinephine

    • History of keloids

    • Taking blood-thinners

    • Used retinoids or glycolic acid near the brows in last 4 weeks

    • Untreated anemia

    • Skin conditions in treatment area

    • Difficulty healing

    • Are currently ill with a cold, flu or other illness

    • Received Botox in the last 2 weeks

  • • Refrain from all medications that cause thinning of the blood at least 72 hours before your appointment. This includes but is not limited to: Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Niacin, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, omega-3 supplements & Ibuprofen. Please consult your physician before stopping any medication.

    • Refrain from consuming coffee & energy drinks the 48 hours before your appointment.

    • Refrain from alcohol consumption 48 hours before your appointment.

    • Refrain from suntanning, microdermabrasion, dermaplanning, laser treatment and chemical peels 7-10 days before receiving a cosmetic tattoo.

    • If you receive Botox, please ensure you leave at least 3 weeks in between sessions to ensure it doesn't affect the overall symmetry of your new cosmetic tattoo.

    • Discontinue the use of vitamin A, Retinol, glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid &/or skin regenerating products four weeks prior to your microblading procedure. These products can cause premature & extreme color loss. If you decide to continue your Retin-A or Retinol use, do not apply on the treated area & please keep in mind that I am not responsible for faded tattoo results.

    • If you are receiving any waxing or hair removal in the treated area, please allow a minimum of 2-3 days between your appointments for the skin to heal.

    • If you have an iron deficiency, iron supplements must be taken consistently for at least 6 weeks prior to an appointment. Continued usage after your tattoo is recommended. Low iron levels will affect both retention & longevity of microbladed brows as your body will absorb the pigment more rapidly.

    • Must be off of Accutane for at least 1 year prior to microblading procedure.

    • No chemical peels for 30 days before & after your appointment.

    • If you are planning a vacation, I do recommend you plan your trip a minimum of 14 days before or after the procedure & be very mindful of sun exposure.

    • If you have been diagnosed with cancer or any extreme illnesses in the past, it is required for you to have been in remission for a minimum of 1 year & to have a signed note by a licensed physician in order to receive any cosmetic tattoo. The safety of my clients is my first priority.

    • If you are experiencing any blemishes, acne, cold sores, any skin irritations or have a mole in or around the area of procedure please contact me immediately via e-mail (hello@nikkivonfluff.com) for a consultation. It is important for me to decide whether or not I have a workable surface for your procedure.

Failure to communicate any of these may result in a cancellation or rescheduling of your appointment.

    All deposits are nonrefundable.

    • Please note that sensitivity is heightened during menstrual cycles

  • The night before your appoitment, gently exfoliate your eyebrow area with a sugar scrub - it makes a world of diference for your retntion!

  • For the next 10 days, clean the tattooed area gently in the morning & evening with the cleansing soap provided. Be mindful to be gentle with the area - so soaking & no scrubbing.

After your brows are clean & patted dry, apply a THIN layer of the lotion that has been supplied to you. Very gently pat it in the direction of your hair strokes until it has absorbed. You don’t want your brows to appear greasy or shiny with lotion - a portion the size of a grain of rice will be enough to cover both brows. Continue to use the healing balm for up to 14 days post treatment, using it up to 3 times a day as explained at your appointment.

As a whole, keep the area clean & let it breathe.

*Be sure to always wash your hands thoroughly prior to handling the procedure site.

  • Immediately after, the treated area may feel like sunburn but the discomfort should be minimal. The procedure site will appear darker and more bold due to the oxidation of the tattoo pigment. Intensified color, redness and swelling are part of the initial stages of healing. In fact, it is possible to experience redness and swelling up to 48 hours after the procedure. This process can last up to 10 days post-treatment before the intensity starts to settle. Once healed, the tattooed hair strokes will soften and lighten approximately 30% - 40%.

As the procedure site begins to heal it can become dry, itchy, and flaky; this is natural and to be expected during the healing process. Do not pick at, scratch, itch, or pull off any of the areas that are peeling, allow the dry skin to come off naturally on its own. Picking can cause scarring and loss of pigment.

Once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the hair strokes. The tattooed hair strokes may appear very faint or as though they’ve completely disappeared - the ‘ghost’ phase. Don’t panic! This is due to regeneration of skin cells and a completely normal part of the process. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost your skin is still healing and naturally exfoliating at this time.

The full healing time of 6-8 weeks (a full skin renewal cycle) must be allowed for the true colour of the tattoo to be visible. Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your second session no sooner than 6 weeks later.

  • Your cosmetic tattoo is an investment & will require continued care. Think: low maintenance, not no maintenance ☻

Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply sunscreen on the treated area. It’s never a bad idea to wear large sunglasses & a hat for further protection.

Please note that those with iron deficiency may process the pigment more rapidly. Potentially effecting the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo and requiring more frequent touch ups.

Rinse & dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.

Microdermabrasion, glycolic acid & chemical facial peel products must be kept away from the tattooed area as continued use can lighten the pigment.

If you are having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattoo has healed, please inform the laser technician. Laser procedures may darken, lighten, or discolor the tattooed area.

When getting any procedures done to your face, please let the individual performing the service know about your microbladed brows and continue at your own discretion. I am not responsible for any changes made to your brows in its reaction to any additional services you may receive.

No anti-aging products or facial products containing Alpha Hydroxyls (AHAs), Retin-A, should not be applied directly to the tattooed area. Please consider using a small barrier around the tattooed area. Continued use could lighten pigment prematurely.

Please note that having an MRI can alter the appearance of the tattoo pigment. If you are planning to have an MRI please notify your technician that you have had a cosmetic tattoo.
