freckles

For this process, I use a hand-poked tattoo technique to deposit pigment into the upper layers of the dermis to create the appearance of natural freckles &/or beauty marks.

Freckle goals can be built up over multiple appointments to achieve the most natural, sunkissed goals.

Each service is bespoke & customized to enhance & compliment your natural aesthetic & features.

  • 2 hours

  • Starting at $260

  • If the following applies to you, you may not get tattooed & may need a note from your doctor to proceed:

    • Under the age of 18 years old

    • Pregnant/Breastfeeding

    • Allergies to Lidocaine/Benzocaine

    • Have an Autoimmune disorder or difficulty healing

    • Are currently ill with a cold, flu or other illness

    • Diabetes

    • Any heart condition

    • Are susceptible to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

    • Are prone to hypertrophic scarring &/or keloids

    • Have received a facial surgery (such as rhinoplasty) within the last 6 months

    • Are actively taking or are within 6-12 months post treatment of Accutane

    • Are actively taking or within 6-12 months post of chemo radiation

    • Have received filler (including botox) in the last 4 weeks

    • Overexposure to the sun & tanning beds - this can & will turn most pigment green or black.

  • • Refrain from all medications that cause thinning of the blood at least 72 hours before your appointment. This includes but is not limited to: Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Niacin, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, omega-3 supplements & Ibuprofen. Please consult your physician before stopping any medication.

    • Refrain from consuming coffee & energy drinks the 48 hours before your appointment.

    • Refrain from alcohol consumption 48 hours before your appointment.

    • Refrain from suntanning, microdermabrasion, dermaplanning, laser treatment and chemical peels 7-10 days before receiving a cosmetic tattoo.

    • Discontinue the use of vitamin A, Retinol, glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid &/or skin regenerating products two weeks before your session. These products can cause premature & extreme color loss. If you decide to continue your Retin-A or Retinol use, do not apply on the treated area & please keep in mind that I am not responsible for faded tattoo results.

    • If you are receiving any waxing or hair removal in the treated area, please allow a minimum of 2-3 days between your appointments for the skin to heal.

    • If you have an iron deficiency, iron supplements must be taken consistently for at least 6 weeks prior to an appointment. Continued usage after your tattoo is recommended. Low iron levels will affect both retention & longevity of microbladed brows as your body will absorb the pigment more rapidly.

    • Must be off of Accutane for at least 1 year prior to any cosmetic tattoo procedure.

    • No chemical peels for 30 days before & after your appointment.

    • If you are planning a vacation, I do recommend you plan your trip a minimum of 14 days before or after the procedure & be very mindful of sun exposure.

    • If you have been diagnosed with cancer or any extreme illnesses in the past, it is required for you to have been in remission for a minimum of 1 year & to have a signed note by a licensed physician in order to receive any cosmetic tattoo. The safety of my clients is my first priority.

    • Please note that sensitivity is heightened during menstrual cycles

  • For the next 2 weeks:

Freckles will appear dark in color & slightly raised from the surface for the first few days.

Refrain from using soap or harsh movements like rubbing on your face.

Gently splash lukewarm water over the tattooed areas twice a day & pat dry with a clean towel.

Keep face out of direct sun & water.

No swimming, saunas or excessive exercise that may induce heavy sweating during this time.

No makeup or skincare products unless provided by me.

You will continue this process until all freckle scabs have fallen off. When they do, your tattooed freckles may appear light at first.

As your skin continues the healing process, the color will bloom to the surface of your skin & become more visible. The healed color will be roughly 30% lighter & softer than your initial results.

The true color of your freckles will be best viewed around the 6 week mark. It is normal & expected for some freckles to have fallen out or healed too light. Any areas that may need to be added to can be done in another session.

  • Immediately after, the treated area may feel like sunburn but the discomfort should be minimal. The procedure site will appear darker & more bold due to the oxidation of the tattoo pigment.

Intensified color, redness & swelling are part of the initial stages of healing. In fact, it is possible to experience redness and swelling up to 48 hours after the procedure. This process can last up to 10 days post-treatment before the intensity starts to settle.

Once healed, the tattooed freckles will soften & lighten approximately 30%.

As the procedure site begins to heal it can become dry, itchy & flaky; this is natural & to be expected during the healing process. Do not pick at, scratch, itch, or pull off any of the areas that are peeling, allow the dry skin to come off naturally on its own. Picking can cause scarring & loss of pigment.

Once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the tattooed freckles. They may appear very faint or as though they’ve completely disappeared. Don’t panic! This is due to regeneration of skin cells & is a completely normal part of the process.

Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost your skin is still healing and naturally exfoliating at this time.

The full healing time of 6 weeks (a full skin regeneration cycle) must be allowed for the true color of the tattoo to be visible. Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your second session no sooner than 6 weeks later.

  • Your cosmetic tattoo is an investment and will require continued care.

Think: low maintenance, not no maintenance ☻

Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply sunscreen on the treated area. It’s never a bad idea to wear large sunglasses and a hat for further protection.

Please note that those with iron deficiency may process the pigment more rapidly. Potentially effecting the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo and requiring more frequent touch ups.

Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.

Microdermabrasion, glycolic acid and chemical facial peel products should be kept away from the tattooed area as continued use can lighten the pigment.

As a general rule, any and all exfoliating procedures will impact fading of freckles, as it’s encouraging your skin to renew faster.

If you are having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattooed freckles have healed, please inform the laser technician. Laser procedures may darken, lighten, or discolor the tattooed area.

When getting any procedures done to your face, please let the individual performing the service know about your tattooed freckles and continue at your own discretion. I am not responsible for any changes made to your freckles that are a reaction to any additional services you may receive.

No anti-aging products or facial products containing Alpha Hydroxyls (AHAs), Retin-A, should not be applied directly to the tattooed area. Please consider using a small barrier around the tattooed area. Continued use could lighten pigment prematurely.

Please note that having an MRI can alter the appearance of the tattoo pigment. If you are planning to have an MRI please notify your technician that you have had a cosmetic tattoo.
